‘Bout Time

“Why is it that the words we write for ourselves are so much better than the words we write for others.”

~William Forrester (Finding Forrester)

The thing is, I really love to write. I’ve loved it for a long time but I can’t really remember when it started. It did not begin in school but somewhere along the line, I fell in love with the written word.

Years later, somewhere during adulthood, I was given the opportunity to write. I absolutely loved it. The publication had very low circulation, and was only relevant in the mortgage and real estate world in a very specific geographic market. But it didn’t matter to me. I loved it.

I was asked to write about the business of mortgage lending and real estate. I ended up writing more about life. Add I loved it. I wrote these articles for a few years add eventually sent a handful of them to a friend who had published a book.

It took some time, but when he got back to me via email he simply said; “these look like chapters in a book. When are you going to write it?” I knew I would… someday.

That was 2006-ish. Time to get back at it. I have art to make and I am not getting any younger.

“Date certain.

This is very different from “someday.”

Choose any date you like, as far in the future as you like. But a date, circled on the calendar.

By that date, what will you have implemented? What will be in place? Where will you be, what will you be doing?

Way more powerful than someday.”
